However, not only of historical and artistic heritage lives Ortiga, where we can enjoy all the natural beauty of the vast pine forests and the reservoir of Barragem de Belver (Tagus River), where throughout the year various water sports are practiced and enjoy the superb landscape offered.
With the Belver Dam reservoir as a backdrop, the Ortiga Leisure Area has long been the place of choice for those visiting Mação and for the residents themselves.
It is equipped with excellent quality infrastructures, including a bar, pier, changing rooms, and medical center. It is also possible to book outdoor and leisure sports activities and hire recreational boats.
As it is only a leisure area, bathing is not recommended.
